Today was suppose to be pretty much of a rest day, but the pups weren't convinced. They spent the morning being very very vocal insisting to come out of the box early and they were wild looking for all the company they had yesterday. They took little naps today and would wake being just as loud and vocal as ever wanting to come out and visit and play. When I cleaned the box we closed them off in the kitchen and they had a ball playing with moms rope leash. Still not being tired-out I opened the door and let them out on the porch, where they screamed some more as they didn't like the idea of going down the stairs. When they finally built up the courage to come down the stairs one by one in sets of two they raced across the backyard with me up to the kennel and mom where all was well again and they spent an hour or so in heavy play and finally came in to take a much need nap. (One puppy handler did come for about half hour and another friend brought their two kids later this evening.) Hopefully they will sleep tonight. Last night they got up at 3:00 and wanted to start their day.

One of the other puppy owners towels arrived today and he sent a hedgehog toy with the towel. I was cleaning out the box and changing the bedding so all the pups were running around and playing in the kitchen with it gated off. We unpacked the hedgehog and I just threw it on the floor in by the pups to see what would happen. Well Sampson who's toy it is suppose to be ran over and jumped on top of it and started biting and dragging it around. The other pups came over and tried to take it from him and after they had a little argument over the toy with Sampson he triumphantly came away victorious with his prize like he knew this was his all the time. Then later in the afternoon I took the pups out and they weren't even scared of the stairs anymore they just let out a couple yelps and the 4 of them ran down the stairs to the kennel. I always try to get the pups to go on little walks but nobody wanted to except for Sampson. I tried that with the girls but they are very independent and just wanted to go off on their own. Isn't that something. The puppy handlers were all here too, One got off the early bus, 2 had their mom bring them for a short visit on the way home and One came on the late bus which forgot to drop her off and had bring her back after they went to the end of the road and did the turn around. TamarahK is rejecting more and more the little needle teeth and the pups bites when their nursing, she growls and wants them to eat more food and less her. She also was making all the pups submit to her and would not stop until they would roll over and submit. Some took a little more persuasion than others but they all did. This is a part of her wolf training that she did with last years pups too. We thought we would try and turn in early last night but TamarahK was still upset we think from having so many new people here this weekend and had a screaming case of diarrhea, getting us up every hour on the hour till after 3:00 am. Then the pups wanted to get up every couple of hours and nurse, but she went and curled up on the couch and wouldn't move. So I being the good 2nd mom, made the pups some warm goats milk and got them to sleep for a couple more hours before I had to get up again a feed them some puppy food. TamarahK slept in until after 10:30 and woke just fine and rested and went right back to work feeding and caring for her babies, just like nothing ever happened. ( accept we are still tired.) That will teach us to try and go to bed early.....

Day 41 has to be entitled the puppy day outside. First I opened the door and let the pups out on the porch, called puppy, puppy, puppy and then I ran up the hill with a trail of white puppies running has fast as they could behind me. We made a few laps around the backyard and then we all ran down to the kennel door where mom and the rest of the pack were waiting. This all started at about 12:30. After they got in the kennel they chased and played and played and played.

It's funny we spend lots of money on toys and they always play with an old sock or a strip of blanket. They hardly had time for a nap but managed a few in the dog house. It's safe to say they are not as white as they use to be.

Two of the girls came on the bus at 3:15 and the pups woke from one of the puppy power naps and were ready to go strong, they played almost till 4:00 when the sun stated going behind the trees and the temperature edged down and we all headed in the house for some chow, to warm up and take a nap. ( the pups not us)

The only down side to being outside is that all the training to get them to go on the paper kind of goes out the window because they get use to going anywhere in the kennel. But they pickup going back on the paper pretty quick with some coaxing.

This really has been one of the fastest 6 weeks we can remember. The pups got to play outside for a little while today but they seemed a little more tired because they played so hard yesterday. But mom and big brother did manage to teach them how to dig, mom still is persistent with the lessens of submitting too. Only one of the puppy handlers came for a little while today, that worked out well cause the pups really wanted to take it easy and just grow, nap and play a little with each other. The weight of the pups ranges between 12.5 to 14 lbs. at 6 weeks.
