By day 9 the puppies are starting to try to stand up on their front legs, they are beginning to try to use their voices and exercise the howling voice. You can see that they are starting to kind of squint with closed eyes and that their eyes are getting ready to open. On day 10 the eyes of the 2nd born female started to open and the puppies found the comfort of moms pillow, TamarahK wants me to move the puppies off her pillow so she can nurse in comfort and she will look at me and whine till I move them.

Day 11, the pups are standing up on front legs and attempting walking, pretty wobbly going though. The rest of the puppies eyes are opening now. Puppies now wait for mom on the pillow they know that it's hers and that is where she will come first to nurse them.

Day 12, time for us is flying by. The pups continue to test their new found legs trying to stand on all fours and doing the baby wobble and down they go. The eyes are still in the pre open- open stage. They also are being more vocal calling to mom all the time for eating or cleaning. Mom is letting big brother Beckley clean the pups a little more everyday but will still not let Dad near her babies. Beckley loves his brother and sister, and while mom was outside and he and dad were in the house, dad thought that he should go sneak a peek at his pups, Beckley blocked him off, gave him a low growl and told him that "MOM SAID NO" end of discussion. The pups are starting to know us too, it is not such a foreign thing for them to have us pick them up now that they are starting to gain sight and can see what's and who's grabbing them.

Day 13, today is the day we started their advance socializing training. As soon as their eyes beginning opening is the time to start familiarizing them to other humans (beyond just touching) outside the box as well as in the box, this helps in socializing them and you can't believe how they respond to human hugs and being held after they figure out this strange new thing of being carried out of the whelping box. Mom is very receptive to the holding of the pups as long as dad keeps his distance he still is not allowed to look at the puppies. Their eye opening is progressing and they are trying to sit. Puppies all got their first nail trimming today also.

TamarahK enjoys all the special attention that she and her pups get from everyone coming to see her. Annie and Ariel are her special friends that she loves to have visiting with her and the pups.

We had another day of puppy handlers all four of our regular ones came today it worked out well with a puppy for each rather than 2. The pups are really enjoying all the attention and mom liked the break visiting and checking on the pups now again but mostly lying on the back of the couch napping or looking out the window. We put a small bathroom area in the whelping box and we actually had three little spots of pee, Pretty amazing for 2 week old pups to already go to the bathroom by themselves. TamarahK is sleeping out of the whelping box at night now, but she sleeps very near the box, in case anybody cries for her, and she goes in to feed and clean them all through the night. She has persistantly been with these guys since they were born and it's time for a break and rest now and then. I am still sleeping out in the living room, so I can make sure the pups are safe and that no one gets stuck or crushed.

Mom thought she should nurse the pups in comfort on the couch and snuggle up on a comforter as long as everyone was already out of the whelping box. She is not one to be uncomfortable and she takes full advantage of every bit of comfort around.
Some Might Say Spoiled?? and we say "Yes, you bet!"

This is the second week and the second view of the puppy faces as they start opening their eyes. The Pups have really changed this week and have grown a lot too. They get cuter by the day!
