These guys really had a time today with the puppyhandlers and being outside in the fresh air and getting to run all over in the house. Mom insisted that she show the pups the doghouse outside and called them all in and fed them. The cat even got into the act playing with the pups today.

The pig rail came out of the whelping box, the pups no longer fit under it but they loved to sleep on top of it and using to stand on to get out of the box. We already have to put both doors on the whelping box cause they all can easily climb out. Two of them got into a serious argument today lots of noise no wounds.

The pups were wrestling with their toys biting them and carrying them shaking and throwing them to the ground. They now insist on coming out of the box for exercise and exploration. They get so excited when they come across a new toy or bone that they have never seen before. Even when the girls come now they want out of the box to visit and want to play before they settle in for snuggles and naps. The lesson for the week is that biting each other hurts and the pup that's being bit can bite back as hard or harder. A few still don't have the letting go part down when the other one screams. The puppy handlers and us know how it feels if they get a finger or worse yet a nose, toe or ear. On the up side they do get so happy and wiggley and their little tails go a mile a minute and they give stinky puppy breath kisses.

Today was kind of just one of those status quo days. Puppies played and nursed, slept and practiced using newspaper. They are growing so fast, if you look at the first picture and compare them with today's it doesn't seem real how quick they grow. We had a chilly north wind so we didn't get to take them outside again but hope to do so one of the nice days supposedly coming this week. Today's picture is of a howling morning, being very vocal this morning and Demanding to be paid attention too. They are starting to jump up and down and on each other. Also these guys get really excited and go crazy when I clean out the box and put them back in. They love to roll, bite and suck on the fresh blankets and of course someone always has to be the first to pee on it in all the excitement

Today again the pups were chasing each other around, running and jumping and trying to fine tune their new found mobility. They had Fearless Toes (one of Beckley's twin kitties) inside the box with them and mom today kissing him and then dragging him around by his tail, It is so funny because they run up to Fearless all squiggly and tails wagging and want to touch the cat because he is so soft, then they bite him. One of the best things we did for Speckles (Beckley) was to get him his own kitten (or in Beckley's case two) to grow up with, The kittens teach them to be gentle with other smaller animals. The one cat just loves to be in with the pups and takes a bit of abuse before he will gently apply a little claw pressure to have them let go, but never hurts them, the other twin kitten doesn't want a thing to do with them.

We didn't think we would have any puppy handlers today but we were blessed with four late this afternoon into evening. The pups had a ball being traded back and forth and running around on the carpet and then just falling a sleep almost in unison. They already really seem to get to looking for the girls toward late afternoon.

It was another fine day here at puppy central. The pups continue to grow and do all the things puppies should do including becoming a little naughty and not using the paper like we would like them to. They cry and howl and just put up such a fuss to come out of the box and run around and play with the big dogs and us, but as soon as they get out they look for good spots to pee rather than going when we attempt to get them to before they come out. One of the neatest things they did today was to start crying and howling when the puppy handlers mom drove into the yard with the girls this evening. Those guys knew they were late today and were excited to hear and then see them. Still looking for a good day to get them back outside. The puppies are very mobile now going from walking to running to one jumping right over my leg as I sat on the floor and just took off. Playing with toys has become a big part of their day and especially love the long tied together sock. Three of them were having a three way tug of war complete all the snarls, shaking and growls like the big dogs do only in miniature.

Mom just enjoying a little break from the pups, takes up her favorite spot
to look out the window.

Pups today really ate well they decided it was pretty good after all. They had another playful day. The Pups seem to look forward to their daily box cleaning and bedding change. The kitchen gets gated off, then the pups with Beckley the cat and (mom for a little while) plus tons of toys and bones all have a time. Beckley was chewing his big mammoth bone while the pups were climbing, jumping and biting him (he's a Beckley Gym) Beckley is so gentle never growls or is in any way aggressive to the little guys even when they bite him too hard. We started putting in the box the left over mammoth bones and they fell in love with chewing on them and it keeps them occupied. Fearless the cat comes in for a visit, and they all wrestle and play with the cat, it is quite a sight. But it is all in fun and play everyone gets along very well. They always get really excited wagging their tails and licking him (maybe tasting) before they start to play and the cat always comes back for more. The girls came this afternoon but the pups played hard all morning into early afternoon and they pretty much just wanted to sleep that means they will be up tonight. And of course that means they are growing.

They now are taking turns to see who can make the biggest fuss to get someone to come over and pay attention too them. The pups teeth are coming in fuller and today was the first time we heard mom and then Beckley tell them they are biting just a little too hard.

Funny one of the other owners said TamarahK looked tired of nursing and said it would-be nice if Beckley would help nurse and today he got in the TamarahK spot and looked like he was going to try. Beckley we found out this morning can imitate moms high pitch whine to call the puppies or wake them up, something dad could never do.

All the puppy handlers were here today and the pups were biting them really hard too. It is just the stage they are going through, this is where toys and bones and other chewy things come into play to divert them from biting hands etc. The girls have great success with tiring these guys out. We get a good 2 hour break after the leave.

Well we are one week over the halfway point and the pups are really starting to have a look of their own. They have really changed this last week. Each one is so special and unique we will be interested in how they grow and mature.
