TamarahK is starting to spend more time out of the whelping box. She is going for longer and longer walks, and is a little less frantic to get back in to see the puppies.
She wants to know where I am at all times. The cats were in the box checking out the puppies while we were outside and she is a little distrustful of them as she smelled they were in the box while she was out.
The first week of the puppies she is always very careful of them. Puppy handler Annie has been over every day to visit the puppies and her sister Ariel
comes when she is able. TamarahK is not quite letting people hold the pups out of the box yet, but they are getting their pets in.
TamarahK now ready for the door to be off the whelping box, for almost the first week she wants to have her privacy with the pups and doesn't want the other animals in the family looking in, but as time goes by this does not affect her as much.
She now spends less and less time with the babies but she is always an ear shot away and she will be there in a flash if they cry.
The puppies are starting to get darker markings now, more every day so you can tell them apart more. Even as young as they are they are getting personalities already.
Big Brother Beckley loves hanging out on top of the whelping box watching his new sisters and brother, but he really misses being in the box.
He's gotten a few licks on the puppies and
he can't wait for them to get bigger.
This is the first look at the puppy faces close up, they are starting to all look different from one another and get more charecteristics every day.
TamarahK really loves these puppies and spends much of the day and night with them. Last years litter of eight, she slept with them for the first 4 nights
and there after she would only come to feed and clean them and rush to them if they cried. I think that this smaller litter of four is much easier for her to deal with.
I know that she is not nearly as sore and chapped as she was last year feeding the pups, and that really helps.
The pups are starting to get pretty active and they are climbing up on moms pillow, they get comfortable right away, just like mom.
She still enjoys going out digging fake dens outside and she has a rug under the bed that she will dig around all over the room.
This is TamarahKs favorite position to keep watch on the puppies and her den.
She can get a break and still be right there with them in her site.
The word of the day is "G-R-O-W-I-N-G"!
These pups have an over abundance of milk and they eat whenever they want,
so these guys are plump like well packed sausages.
