Today is Beckley's 7 month Birthday, we awoke to find him sitting up on the table,
smiling with his look "Hi, I'm Beckley!" What more can you say than this.

Today is the first bath of Beckley, he is not really a happy camper. Although he watched Mom, Dad and Wolfie getting their baths the idea of it was intriguing but the act of it was not. He came through it just fine, but it was a little like bathing a bucking bronco.

Beckley's back is taller than the table, he can see everything on the table, he is so tall he can see over the top of the counter with no problem. He usually is pretty good about not taking things, but on occasion has claimed a few items, like the paper towel roll. He can drink out of the bathroom sink just standing there. We took him in to Pets Mart, he of course was way too big to ride in the cart anymore, we decided to weigh him to see just how big he getting to be and to our amazement he was 137 at eight and a half months old. WOW! and still growing! The other puppies that he saw there were quite scared of his large size, but he introduced himself to them and they got along fine. He has a giant toy box full of stuffed toys, balls, bones, socks, ropes, rubber squeaky toys, kongs, you name it so he always has something to do. We now have a stuffed animal hospital for his animals on the mend. Tags are not allowed on any of his stuffed animals, Beckley promptly chews them off, and he sometimes doesn't want them to have eyes, he extracts them with great care but doesn't eat the eyes he just removes them, with the art of a surgeon.

He's just a big lap dog!

We had a lot of really big rain in October - November, but Beckley is not bothered by it, on a few of the big rain days ( one we got 5" and a week later we got 10" with rain every day inbetween and a lot of rain on the days before and after!) all the dogs woke up and went to the door to go out, mom, dad and Wolfie turned right around and headed back to bed because it was just too wet to go outside, but not Beckley, he said lets go out and get wet Dad! I Think he just loves to be toweled off when he comes back in, which I must say is big guy to dry and at least a 2 towel dog. The day after the 10" of rain the whole canal was covered in floating pumpkins, Beckley and I went to retrive a few of them, which he had to visit and lick everytime we went outside. He is just a charecter!

Beckley is the only dog that we ever had that liked to eat oranges, mandarin in particular. He likes to bring me a present every morning and today he gentelly brought me the mandarin orange that was on the table and laid it on me while I was in bed. When I got up, I wiped it off and put the orange back on the table. Later that evening he brought me the orange again, we decided that he really wanted us to peel it and eat it with him, and that was exactly what he wanted. The next morning I was pretending to cry, so he went and carefully picked up a paper towel that was loose on the table and brought it in and presented it to me, so carefully that it wasn't even wet or damaged. Beckley is trying to figure out how to talk, he always seems to be mouthing words and trying to communicate with me. His other thing he is trying do is to open the door knob with his mouth, he watches us opening the door, since his mouth is at about the height as the knob, we have seen him with the knob in his mouth trying to turn the knob. I think one day he will open the door by himself. Dad being the dog he is, notices nothing new. Whether it is new shoes, or article of clothing, or something he has not seen you wear before, something new in the house..... Beckley like his mom notices everything, nothing gets missed under the watchful eyes. If you have anything new on they are always sure that they notice and immediately check it out. Beckley will even notices my older clothes that he hasn't seen me wearing before.

Beckley's first snow, it was love at first site, he and dad played and played they couldn't get enough of the stuff and for a week they had great fun in it. At one point we couldn't find him and he was right in front of us under the snow. When it got warmer it started to rain again and began melting the snow off, Beckley still wanted to be out laying and rolling in the wet sloppy slush. He was just like a little kid.

The Whelping box came back in to be set up for TamarahK to have her next litter. Mom in her secret language told him it was for her, but it didn't take long for him to be in the box with her. He is now way bigger than the box and he has gone back to the top position on the box top to hang out.

Mom ( TamarahK ) walks on a leash with us, while the others stay close are not on a leash. They all think that walking on the leash is the lead dog position, so when we go out the door dad ( Timbuk2 ) and Beckley try to get hooked up on the leash and have a few times been hooked up by accident and mom will go for quick a run in the confusion. Beckley decided now that he will walk her and he grabs hold of her leash and wants to walk her with me, but sometimes he wants to take her in a different direction then we are going.

He still has to go to the Post Office to visit the Postmaster, and he gets really upset if its closed and he doesn't get to go in to see her. He is too big now to lay up on her counter, ( he did till he was 9 months old and was as tall as the ceiling above it ) but he is tall enough to stand up and lean over the counter and give her kisses. He loves tearing up big cardboard tubes and she will leave mail pickup slips in our box for Beckley when she gets one in the trash and will save them for him, he just loves these tubes and her.

No more is Beckley the aloof pup that he was as a baby, this guy is loaded with personality and he wants to be the center of attention, he is literally in your face about it, sweetly licking you in the face. He is truly a gentle giant, he loves children and all people, but he is so large he is rather intimidating till you get to know his sweet disposition, which doesn't take long. Beckley is exactly the dog that we were looking to raise out of our pups, you couldn't ask for a more sweet, intelligent, sensitive, loving and loyal dog than he is. And do I need to mention that he is the Comfort King ( like mom before him ) and the biggest lap dog we ever had? Rarely do we have to get after him, and when you we do, all we need do is change the tone of our voice and scold him, and he is quick to respond and is truly embarrassed by his behavior.

Beckley is a very large big baby boy and now weighs approx. 150 lbs at 1 year old.
